Week 2 day 2
This day we are more into the depth of world war 1, and how world war 1 actually happen
By 1907, Europe was divided into 2
armed camps. – 1870, Germany became a united country with an attitude: to be like Britain! – Germany worried about French attack to regain Alsace and Lorraine, won by Germany this year. France builds up more soldiers on borders, fearing attack from Germany! – Vast Austrian Empire in danger of falling apart, some looking for independence, needed a strong ally. – 1879, Austria and Germany form an alliance. – 1882, Italy saw benefit in joining the group, so in this year, the “Triple Alliance” was formed. – 1893, France formed an alliance with Russia, both fearing Germany and the “TA”. – 1904, IN the past, France had been a rival of Britain. Britain was worried about growing German power. In this year, France and Britain kiss and make up. – 1907, Britain and Russia make a similar agreement, and the “Triple Entente” was formed. • The British motive was to prevent Germany from taking over all of Europe. Germany responded that the Triple Entente had been formed to surround and threaten Germany. The spark:
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was killed and it result in everyone protecting their allied countries.
This day it's Michelle's turn to teach. She explained more deeply about the triple entente and the triple alliance
1. What was the topic of the day and what important parts were learned? Demonstrate understanding and , application.
The topic for today is that the triple alliance were consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy who were tempted to be allies for more defense power against the triple entente which were Britain, France and Russia. The triple entente were consist of the most powerful countries in Europe at that time. So many countries were scared for an invasion at any time.
2. Critical thinking: was there a discussion? BHQ's? Give an analysis and evaluation; compare and contrast the scenario and find evidence of it happening elsewhere? Demonstrates analysis and evaluation.
Why dont Germany just join allies with the triple entente if they do not want to have war with France which were one of the triple entente? sure there will be lost but there will be wins too.
3. What was done, who did it and how was it assessed?
