Team vission and mission statement
Hi Guys!
Let's start with the vision statement. Here's a formula to use for a simple one:
By the end of this school year, The Not Hitler team will _(target or objective)_ by (doing what)_.
Using
this formula to write a vision statement, it will force you to choose
what you consider to be the most important accomplishment of your team
and give you a time frame to accomplish it.
For instance, here's a sample vision statement:
"At
the end of the school year, the Not Hitler High Performance Team will
be the top scoring LdL team in Springfield by consistently working
through all subjects on a collaborative basis and each member providing
reliable and faithful support to each other and the team as a whole for
each project, assignment or exam."
Next comes your mission statement:
1) Describe what your team does.
No need to be fancy here. Just say it, for the moment.
Sample Mission Statements
Do homework
Plan and work collaboratively
Prepare for examinations
or....?
2) Describe how you do it.
This
is the tricky part, because we're not looking for a detailed
description how your team operates, not in detail but generally. This
means incorporating one or more of our core values into your
description. Pastor Mak and Pastor Tim can help with the core values of
Springfield.
So
take a moment to think of/list the core values that are important to
you guys. Here are some sample values that are expressed/supporting a
team activity:
Sample Values
1
• Work with DILIGENCE to produce work of high quality
• Demonstrate COMPASSION by supporting our teammates, our class and our teachers.
• ADVOCATE for others in need by encouraging them and helping them grasp concepts when they have reached their ZTD.
• Ensure EQUALITY by holding each other accountable for their share of the work load.
• Encourage INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY by assigning each other tasks to improve our performance.
•
Develop SUSTAINABLE BEST PRACTICES by reflecting and evaluating our
work , eliminating waste and pushing for continual improvement in all
that we do.
Once
you've decided which core values are most important, add one (or two at
the most) to your description of what your team does.
Sample Mission Statement
My team's mission is to:
Do homework by encouraging INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY: Assigning each other balanced and shared tasks to improve our performance.
Plan
and work collaboratively by using SUSTAINABLE BEST PRACTICES:
reflecting and evaluating our work , eliminating waste and pushing for
continual improvement in all that we do.
Prepare for examinations by ensure EQUALITY: holding each team accountable for their share of the work load.
3) Add why.
When you write a mission statement, this is the part that describes your spark, or the passion behind your team.
What is the motive for doing things the way you do?
Sample Mission Statement:
My team's mission is to:
Do
homework by encouraging INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY: Assigning each other
balanced and shared tasks to improve our performance because through
INNOVATION we grow and move beyond static learning.
Plan
and work collaboratively by using SUSTAINABLE BEST PRACTICES:
reflecting and evaluating our work , eliminating waste and pushing for
continual improvement in all that we do. By carefully regulating our
workload and reflecting on our performance, we can operate from a stable
and reliable foundation that will support us in the long term.
Prepare
for examinations by ensuring EQUALITY: holding each team accountable
for their share of the work load, because our performance is dependable
on our attitude and morale. If we are all working in harmony, we will
have a greater desire to accomplish more.
4) TWEAK
Now, rework it... tweak the wording:
The Not Hitler High Performance Team is committed to:
Do
homework by encouraging INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY: Assigning each other
balanced and shared tasks to improve our performance because through
INNOVATION we grow and move beyond static learning.
Plan
and work collaboratively by using SUSTAINABLE BEST PRACTICES:
reflecting and evaluating our work , eliminating waste and pushing for
continual improvement in all that we do.
In
this way, we commit ourselves to the achievement of becoming the best
High Performance team in Springfield by the end of this academic year.
Blessings!
